Having had my first website for 4 years with little page rank or traffic I added a blog onto the back of it and the stats proved that the blog is the way to go.
The stats showed that Google loved the blog, it went upto page rank 2 without me having to put any real effort in, the most popular page on the site was the blog.
There are great plugins for blogs to deal with spam, so that is not an issue.
The content can be more personal as your take on the issue in hand is what engages the reader and develops the relationships.
The only word of caution I would say about blogs is that they do not like to be moved, the blog I mentioned is now on a different server and a shadow of its former self. I moved it myself and destroyed the database, thus losing a lot of the content. Therefore take time to choose your host and domain. |
